Suspect in Fraud Case Extradited from Florida to Storey County

STOREY COUNTY, NV –In May 2025, Storey County Sheriff’s Office detectives were alerted to a significant fraud case in the Virginia City Highlands. After about a month of contact with the suspects, the victim reported “FBI Agents” had come to her residence over the course of several weeks and had taken a significant amount of money from her by threatening to arrest her if she did not cooperate with them.
Through a thorough and diligent investigation, the suspects were identified and found to be from Florida. Nationwide warrants were issued for the suspects. In August 2025, law enforcement officials in Key West, Florida notified the Storey County Sheriff’s Office that one suspect, Jeoffrey White, was arrested pursuant to the Virginia Township Justice Court warrant and local marijuana charges.
On Oct. 16, 2025, Storey County Sheriff’s Office detectives traveled to Florida and extradited White back to Storey County, where he was booked into the Storey County Detention Facility. A detention hearing was held at the Virginia Township Justice Court on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, at which time White’s bail was raised to $200,000.
