Briggs Electric Brings Light And Safety To Comstock Historic Sites
DJ, Spencer, and Beale in Sutro Tunnel

On a recent visit to the Sutro Tunnel, I witnessed two gentlemen from Briggs Electric completing work in the Tunnel, and I was curious as to how they became involved with working at the historic site. Dave Legarza | Director of Business Development, was generous with his time and answered questions for us. The how of becoming involved is, "We have a relationship with local mining companies in the Virginia City area, such as Comstock Mining."

Why are they dedicating time and work to the projects within the Comstock area? "We at Briggs Electric believe that it is worthwhile to invest back into our community where it makes sense to protect, preserve, and restore landmarks, cultural properties, and public locations so our future generations and visitors to this great state can experience what it might have been like to be a miner in the Comstock during the historical active mining era."

Besides Sutro Tunnel, what other projects has Briggs helped with?
"Briggs Electric donated labor and materials for power and lighting for the Machine Shop at Donovan Mill. Recently, Briggs donated labor and materials to install a new 200amp electrical service for their museum, being the first step in bringing lights and power into the museum, allowing tourists to see the old techniques used to process and extract gold from the ore."

"Briggs Electric donated labor and material for the Sutro Tunnel to install adequate switching, emergency egress lighting, and receptacles for the first 200ft entering into the portal."

What are your plans for future projects with these sites or others?
"Briggs Electric would love to complete the Donovan Mill Museum's lighting and power installation. The foundation is currently fundraising to cover some of the costs of the systems required by Lyon County for the museum's occupancy, as mandated by Donovan Mill."

Who is Briggs Electric? "Briggs Electric was founded in a Garage in Newport Beach, CA, in 1946 and subsequently expanded to open a second office in Carson City in 1996. Since then, the organization has grown over the years to a thriving, multi-regional force capable of performing small service-related projects up to large and very complex mega-projects in many business sectors, from simple Residential Service-Calls to Mining, Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing, Solar, Battery Production, Battery Recycling, Mission Critical, Geothermal, Institutional, Warehousing, Hospitality, Retail,  HealthCare and others not explicitly mentioned."

What would Briggs like to share about their company? "Briggs Electric has always been there with its heart on its sleeve, willing to help others. Powered by Experience and Driven by Safety. We are a group of ordinary people with extraordinary skills who want to help the community with all their electrical needs. Big or small, we can do it all."
